a respond to Spring Fic Fest! "What makes the little bastard think I don't care about him?"
That was the question that Severus Snape asked himself everyday since last week. The question that revolved around his son's latest temper tantrum since last week. And the same damn question that didn't leave him alone no matter what he did.
He even woke up with the thought swirling in his mind. What had he done to make Harry think he was being neglected?

- JANET IS LILY?! Why the sneaky little... What happened to James, you swine! Raging emotion aside, what happened to the "perfect" Potter family of Aiden, James and Lily? Did they continue to live in a happy little family, hiding their ugly faces from their second son? Would Aiden be in Hogwarts with Harry... Or are they to far apart in age at the moment? Is Lily trying to hook up with Severus again because James got boring? Did Severus even know Lily from his childhood, like in cannon?
SO. MANY. QUESTIONS!!!
My poor little Hawwy. He needs lot of love, and maybe some chocolate. He had so good... BEFORE JANET SCREWED EVERYTHING UP.

Author's Response: looks can be deceiving huh? are you sure she is Lily? or is she? a full explanation about the potters are on the next chapter and Aiden is also included, though i can tell you that Severus knew Lily before Hogwarts and they were good friends at some point. and if you think this is angst you are about to be blew off your feet cause i promise you the next chapter is epic! thank you so much for your brilliant support Draco, i am very pleased and flattered. but no worries i will update sooner than you think ;)

Do you enjoy ripping my heart from my chest, then telling me I have to wait to get it patched up? Because I feel this hole in my chest right now, and it's not filling.
...So this /half/-sister of Lily's... Was she or was she not Harry's mother/the one who abused him? I couldn't tell for sure. We now know that Severus know who she was. (Sev! What were you thinking!?)
Urge! Sirius and Remus made me so mad! Can't they see that there is no perfect solution for Harry's special situation? There's no such thing as "perfect parenting". Besides, Harry chose Severus, not them!
Please, please, please! Don't leave me in this dark hole of angst that you have push me into! Throw a rope, or at lease a flashlight!

Author's Response: i know...i'm sorry! i'm an evil person, i know. but don't worry i write fast, i swear! it's the validation that prolongs the updates, not me. and as to your remedy i will actually answer that question, yes. though Janet was not the abuser she /deliberately/ did /something/ that hurt Harry in a way as you will read in the next chapter. i was mad too when i wrote the canines, in my opinion they just pretend that they know Harry, and have not suffered the things Severus went through. the evil parts wants to leave you in the angst though, but i'm winning over and already half through the next chapter, with validation taking like...three or four days you'd be getting your flashlight next week!! thanks for taking your time and reviewing Draco ;)

- In the middle of this chapter… I realized the I was breathing heavily. I'm not the one you typically find crying over things, movies, novels, whatever. I can count the number of times I've legitimately shed tears over on one hand. But had me THIS CLOSE to it. THIS CLOSE!!
Harry! Don't give up on us! Daddy has made mistakes, but he never meant to hurt you!
Okay, I see the flaws in Severus' and Janet's "plan" to kept Harry in the dark, but I can't fully write them off, like Remus and Sirius have seemed to. And, yes, I still hate them. BUT, I'm finding some heart for Janet. Yes, she screwed up; yes, she seemed like she was ruining Harry's life; yes, I accused her of being Lily. But, hey, I DO believe in second chances.
I can't believe the bomb you dropped about Harry's health. Okay, so maybe the whole "frozen, then fried" fiasco should have been a fair warning, but I never expected you to blow my hopes into smithereens!
Another fantastic update! I'm at the edge of my seat for the next.

Author's Response: at least you didn't bawl like i did while writing it though, it was very emotional and draining for me. daddy did make some mistakes yes, and there is going to be a looooong way for them to fix it all, severus's and janet's half cooked plan to hide things from Harry deserves some credit cause it lasted about a whole year...but you're right, everyone deserves a second chance and i believe in redemption. i tried to make Harry's health as realistic as it got, but don't worry Harry is strong! and i'm about to send a whole package down there, so you should be good by yourself for a while ;) i'll update very soon.

- Yay! Another chapter!
WHAT? NO! My beautiful (I never said flawless) family is falling apart! Please don't give up, Severus. Use every bit of fighting spirit and Slytherin cunning you've got in you!
I really hope that Harry can find it in him to give his dad a chance. Severus really wants to explain and make up with him, buy you can't talk to dead ears. Is Harry strong enough to forgive? What will Harry think about the trial?
About the trial, what the heck does James think he's doing? Is he so sick that now that Harry has proven to be a rather powerful wizard that he can just be like, "He's a Potter!"? Will they reclaim Harry as their firstborn? What about Aiden? What will he think about being throw aside because the brother he never knew is "better" than him?
Speaking about Aiden brings up questions I had earlier. What's Aiden like now? What year is he in at Hogwarts? Does he act like a Draco Malfoy or is he sweeter than that? Is he innocent/oblivious or has James tainted him?
I love Janet's insight on her part of the story. She must have felt so much stress. If Lily had suspected /anything/ on Janet's true feeling, who knows what the Potters could have done to her. She knew what was happening, but if she had acted to early, then Harry would have ended up hurting even more. While I don't agree that she didn't even try to help after he was abandoned, she needed to work carefully with the Potters.
Please update soon! I'm still stuck in the bottom of a dark pit, and the matches you send me landed in a wet puddle. Now all I have is broken wax candles and soggy matches. (~.^)
Author's Response: yay! thank you for the review! things are pretty messed up aren't they? but severus isn't about to give up, i assure you...he's a slytherin after all. forgiving Janet, seems like a reasonable thing to any other reader including myself, but from Harry's point of view, not so much, i really don't blame him though, he doesn't even know the full story, and as a person studying psychology i can relate to him, but once he knows what really happened? maybe. harry is certainly strong enough to forgive. the trial will happen whether the potters were involved or not. the thing is, even if Sirius wins, the potters still have the upper hand since they're the biological parents who also want to claim him, and /apparently/ are fit enough to do so, the fact that they have the whole ministry by their side is a big factor as well, as james said, now that Sirius promptly questioned Severus's custody claim, James now has a excuse to take Harry back now that he knows just how powerful he is. Aiden Potter will make a reappearance in the next chapter and i can't give away much more ;) i love Janet's roll in the story as well, though i don't condone her actions, i believe that there wasn't much she could do anyways, and she had to make hard choices in order to make the best out of everything, we will also see more on that in the next chapter. i will update so soon! probably tomorrow or even today (by my time), hang in there i'm sending lightsabers! or a wooden ladder ;)

- Before I even read this chapter, I want to make this clear. You are a brilliant human being, worthy of respect just as surely as any other human being. It takes more than a little courage to upload stories onto the internet where anyone, literally anyone, can see. Trust me, I've never quite summoned the courage myself.
It really pisses me off to see someone disregard a person like that. To say it to someone's face isn't okay, and the internet doesn't somehow magically make it okay.
As I say, there are a thousand different ways to say things, and /that/ was not one of them.
Thank you for not giving up. There will always be "good" authors and "bad" authors, but there will never be another /you/.
Write.
Whether it be Harry Potter fanfiction or something of your own. Don't let stupid, heartless people, hiding behind screens, tell you you can't.
Because you, and only you, can continue "Start of time" and "Looking of stars" and whatever else is cooking in you creative brain.
I hope I have said something to lift your spirits. Besides, I really want to see a happy ending for Harry, Severus and Janet. (~.^)
Author's Response: lifting my spirits? you set me on fire Draco ;) i'm BACK! your review was like that beacon of light that needed to get me back on track,and man, am i on a roll now! i'm gonna be honest it was a strange mood, and a crappy couple of weeks for me, and you couldn't be more right, i shouldn't let this get to me, if i'm gonna continue then i should man up and take the crap cause there always will be jerks like that. by the way, i can't wait to read your stories, if ever you decide to publish them ;) please do! since personally i hate abandoned stories i would of course finish both stories, /and/ i am finishing a couple more when my classes starts so you guys should be fine! and you will see the happy ending Harry and sev deserve, and an early chapter cause A. i'm writing like crazy, B. for your wonderful, spirit lifting and eye opening nudge i needed, here have a hug ;)

- Wow, Lucius is just merciless. What will Severus have to sacrifice to get Harry? I hope he doesn't end up having to let go of Janet.
Last chapter, I felt Harry was being utterly selfish, wallowing in his self-pity. Now that I look at it, it's only been 2 or 3 freaking days since the accident. What should I expect? I just really, /really/ hope Harry will prove to be the strong, amazing boy we all know him to be, and forgive Severus and Janet.
As for this chapter... How could you leave me hanging like that!? Severus this-freaking-close to Harry, then you changed scenes on me! Oh, the suspense is killing me!
Thank you for another chapter as well as the light saber. Worked beautifully, once I figured out how to turn the bloody thing on /without/ taking my own head off. Unfortunately, I did take out the wooden ladder you sent... (~.^)
Author's Response: oh boy, i think i shouldn't have sent the light saber, are you sure you can work with it? i'll send a first aid just in case. Lucius is...Lucius. i think he's not afraid to call anyone on their crap and also he's a jerk, and a slytherin, i think his combination with the canines and Janet in a confined place would be hilarious, cool, and sorta heart warming? Harry is fourteen. when i was writing him i tried to channel my inner teenage self without being obnoxious or unrealistic, and considering it's only been like 3 days..? i guess the reactions were appropriate. but don't worry, Harry will be back to his wonderful charming self soon enough (hint next chapter,wink) quick question; have you tried light sabering your way out by carving into the cave? i think the blade is strong enough....

The song continues to, "The prisoner that it really frees is you." That, I think, really explains why Harry is relieved when he realizes he doesn't want to let his dad go. Whenever you give new insight on Harry and Severus' relationship, I'm always amazing at Severus' fully committed and entirely unconditional love. It warms my heart!
Now, I guess I'll have to wait and see how he forgives Janet...
James is such an arrogant little prick. The only thing he's interested in is power, never in Harry. Yet, it still feels like he's winning. Like Severus will lose Harry to him. I want to see Harry stand up to James, show him how he can use his power to defend himself like he couldn't as a kid.
Brilliant chapter, truly! And my lightsaber has been proving to be bloody useful, though it's still hard to climb up, even with rumble under my feet. Can't wait for the next chapter! (~.^)
Author's Response: i have listened to that song before, it's a personal favorite! that and the song 'mended' by the same artist. i feel like that song is what basically wrote start of time instead of me, give it a go! honestly, i couldn't keep Harry from Severus for long, /i/ was relieved when i wrote it, and it just felt right for Harry to forgive Severus then instead of waiting to hear the whole thing. it just felt right, even though Severus doesn't know it yet, and i like it too when each chapter reveals a new aspect into their lives and interactions, i like this gradual character build instead of cramming everything into one overwhelming chapter, i hope it's working!i'm afraid that your suspicions are correct, James will win and Harry will have encounters with the man and the rest of the Potter family... man i feel bad thrusting that on you like that...i hope the light saber and the cave would be intact the next time i send something down there! hang on ;)

- Really, I've enjoyed this! I like what you've done with Draco (hopefully poor Neville will be able to look past his own fear ~haha). I can't wait for more Severus and Harry scenes.
