When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good. Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story. Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH.

I binged this baby in about a week, it was so fun and interesting! I remember reading the description and thinking “this isn’t what I’m looking for, but it has so many reviews that I’ll give it a shot.” And I am SO glad I did! I still feel like the description doesn’t really encompass the whole story, but it’s a small thing.
“O Mine Enemy” is officially in my top two favorite HP fanfics, all because it had a well-thought out plot, slow and believable character development, and all characters felt like they were in character! (The best part in my opinion).
Thanks so much for completing your story, this is something I’ll come back to reread a good few times. :)

BRUH. The personalities you wrote were by far my favorite thing about this fic, the characters all felt so complicated and 3 dimensional. I’ve read so many fics where the moment Snape finds out about the Dursleys, he pretty much has a complete change of character. I don’t dislike those stories, but something like what you’ve done, where Snape struggles to change, feels so much more natural and I love it!
COMPLETE. Harry and Hermione go to a prestigious summer school, where Snape is a teacher. Unfortunately for Harry, Snape has spoken to the other staff and is on his way to turning the whole school against Harry.

JAWorley, I give you a full round of applause and standing ovation for this story! I think my favorite parts were the scenes that took place at Gemini. I was fascinated by your descriptions of the islands and the different classes, it was by far my favorite part.
I really liked the diagrams and maps of the cabins and island, it helped SO much in helping me visualize things, and it was clear you really cared about this story and out a lot of thought into it.
I have some constructive criticism as well, but please don’t take it to heart because the last thing I want is to put you down! I felt like the story after leaving Gemini was a little more clumsy, a little less thought out. I saw your note saying that you didn’t have plans for that part of the story, so all things considered you did a really good job winging it! But I would have liked to see some more interaction between Harry and Snape, and sometimes things just went so fast and left some loose ends (like how did Narcissa know Harry was Snape’s son? Not even Snape knew, and nobody else seemed to pick up on any family resemblance.)
To end on a good note, thank you for writing this and giving me something to binge and enjoy for the past week! Your world building is incredible, and I hope you feel proud of this work because you deserve all the praise!
Author's Response: Hey, the constructive criticism is important, because I like to hear how people are feeling about the story and what they felt could be improved. That's one of the ways to improve as a writer and I always try to improve. Sometimes I try to leave things as a mystery, like how Narcissa knew, because it's a mystery to the main character that he hasn't figured out yet. I'm glad you liked the story, and don't ever feel bad about leaving me constructive criticism :) The only time I don't like criticism is when people aren't constructive about it, but you were and I've taken everything you've said under advisement for future stories. Thanks again!

Oooh, I love the premise of this story! Your writing style is so smooth and pleasant to read, and I like how you didn’t immediately escalate issues, but rather leave a trail of breadcrumbs so I can have something to look forward to later in the story. I’m so glad you decided to build upon your oneshot, good luck!
Harry Potter has created the perfect Boy Who Lived persona. He's learned to hide behind the mask, but what happens when it starts to crumble? Harry is determined not to find out especially not now that he's been forced into Occlumency lessons with his least favorite professor. Will Snape be able to see through the cracks to a boy who is just barely hanging on?

I like where this is going! I thought the writing in the first chapter wasn't bad, but wasn't the best I've seen either. That being said, I do think the writing in future chapters had an interesting style and voiced that didn't disappoint.

Once upon a time a new headmaster dragged a young man in his charge back from the depths of darkness. Now, years later, another boy has turned up to school in poor shape and the Headmaster thinks it’s time for Severus Snape to pay forward what was once done for him, even if said Potions Master goes kicking and screaming all the way. Written for round two of the 2019 Tri-W tournament (even though it’s submitted late). If you like this story don't forget to go vote for it in Site News.

There are a lot of things to love about this story! Snape’s background and the narrative of how he got mixed up with death eaters in the first place felt clever and like a natural progression of someone who got into something that’s over their head.
I thought the writing was good, but sometimes things didn’t strike me as very immanent and it pulled me from the immersion a little. And the ending gave me mixed feelings; I like what the author has written, but it felt more like a chapter ending than a story ending, and I’m left a little unsatisfied. I think another chapter, maybe with Harry and Snape reuniting, would have concluded things nicely.

The tension leading up to this chapter was perfect, and made reading it very cathartic in a strange way. I like how, by having to polyjuice Harry, Snape had to actually think about his actions and gained some empathy/insight that way. The only thing that could make it better would be to actually see the result of Snape's hard-earned evidence gathering by either getting to see her hauled out of Hogwarts or by getting to see the trial. Thanks for the story, waitingondaisies!
