Snape wants to be Slytherin's new head of house. Harry wants a home. Dumbledore has a plan for these two. If Snape can prove he can take care of the 9 year old, the job is his. But the Slytherins didn't treat him like a freak. They didn’t make him do their cooking or cleaning because the house-elves did all that.
