"There, there, try to relax while I shove this tube down your throat and feed you vomit." Ack! Painful in such a good way. :) Harry is acting strangely, and Snape may just live to regret prying the secret out of him.

I think my favorite line was when Snape thought to himself that it was..."really too bad for him that I've practiced my glare far too many times on myself to be even slightly phased by the pitiful attempt that he has turned on me." After being abducted by a servant of Lord Voldemort, Harry begins to deteriorate both physically and mentally. Can he be saved?

However, Snape runs a little too hot and cold. I realize he has a quick temper, but there were times when the change happened too quickly. There was one point where he "shoved the bowl of broth into Harry’s hands and set the cup of mint tea gently on the floor," and the switch from angry to kind was too fast and jarring for me. Anyway, I'm enjoying this story very much. I like the creepy flashbacks and the air of mystery surrounding them. Thank you for sharing your story!
However, I liked that Snape and Harry didn't have a big heart-to-heart at the end. I especially liked: "Snape had no desire to explain his actions to Potter" and "Some things can never be set right" They have an ambiguous relationship and it's great when authors reflect that. There's a certain style to your writing that I really enjoy. Good luck and may your muse stay with you! After mistakenly flooing himself to Snape's home the summer after Sirius' death, Harry realizes that his potions master can take matters into his own hands, literally. Warning: This story does involve the spanking of teenagers. If you have a problem with this, do not read and do not review. Any criticisms about CP will be ignored. But I love any other feedback!

Ha ha. I love that line. I love the whole chapter. Harry is so adorable and hilarious. The entire fic is great, but this chapter makes me smile every time. Great job! It is the begining of yet another week during Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts, and tempers are once again tested in Double Potions. How will Harry cope with a weeks worth of detentions with Snape; and will what is revealed during these detentions bring him any closer to accepting Sirius' death? (Post OotP)

Amidst misconceptions and reconciliation, the lines that separate the Wizarding World will be destroyed. Enemies will serve one another as friendships are tested and forged. But first, the Sorting Hat Who Will Not Sort has a message for Hogwarts...
Warnings: some OOC (with reason). Definite and unabashed alternate universe, here: takes place from the beginning of sixth year. Snape and Harry interaction doesn't start until chapter 4. Author's Response: Thanks so much! Did you notice the lack of such consequences in canon? Urg. -K Hogwarts has been under siege for some time. The supplies are dwindling, food is running low and most of the potions have been spent... Harry is injured and Snape is the only one able to help at the moment. There are no potions left, and no correct ingredients to make any so they’ll have to bind it Muggle Style.

I'm so glad you continued this story! The weariness and despair of the characters comes through, but it's shown rather than told. So many fics mention war as this vague thing out there somewhere, but this fic brings the reality of war into the lives of the a characters. Well done. I don't think you need to worry about continuing it, necessarily. It works well as a one-shot: one small moment in an ongoing war. If you wanted to make it more of a beginning-middle-end kind of story, you could start the story with Charlie and his dragons being very late, to the point where everyone has lost hope. And then end the story with the dragons on the horizon. That would be a framework that (with a little tweaking) would make middle be about losing hope vs. holding onto hope. Anyway, that's my $0.02. Thank you for sharing your writing! Author's Response: Thank you Malora! I always appreciate your reviews! :) I think that having dark, and also bright sides in an author is what makes some writing so multidimensional. This story will stay as a one-shot. I don't feel like revisiting the story's atmosphere, and I don't think I'd ever be able to make it better than it is. It's more of the type of story that makes people think about what happened before and afterwards, and come up with things themselves. And I see that you did. :) Darn, and now I want to write but I don't have any time to do so! Hmm... |
