Hi, I'm Jan. :D I love Snape and Harry fics, and just mentor fics in general. I first started Potions and Snitches (P&S) as a safe place to find Snape & Harry gen fics without stumbling into Snape and Harry slash (aka Snarry, or HP/SS).

Fandoms that I like to read fanfiction of include: Star Trek, Star Wars, Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Dragonball Z, Stargate SG1, Batman, Angel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I like Gen and Mentor fics mostly. I love hurt/comfort, angst, whump, drama, raw emotions, and vivid descriptions best.

I know how to make and edit graphics, icons, and layouts (html and css). I am a master web searcher. XD

My dreams? One day I'd like to be able to run up a mountain effortlessly, or at least easily. :) I'd like to see Potions and Snitches host every single good Snape and Harry Gen fic there ever existed. I'd like to have people who post here get 100 reviews a chapter. I'd like active-to-the-bursting challenges and contests. I want the site to be a great, fun place that readers of Snape and Harry fics loved and knew as active.

Now, years later, another boy has turned up to school in poor shape and the Headmaster thinks it’s time for Severus Snape to pay forward what was once done for him, even if said Potions Master goes kicking and screaming all the way.     Woooow. Wow oh wow. Great emotions in this. Fantastic start! It’s really intense. I really like how it was all crafted, Harry being angry and claiming a dragon hurt him... Snape being more patient and crafty than usual. I even like your Dumbledore.

    I’m loving all the characterizations, even the minor ones. Great job with Ron especially.

    I’m glad that Harry told in the end. I hope his beliefs can be proven wrong. I really liked the backstory with Severus and his emotions about it. The analogy about the other shoe being dropped tied everything in nicely.

    Fantastic start. I’m really enjoying this story and your writing. Well done.

    Fantastic!! I love, love, love this story. Snape being nice, buying Harry a book bag, treating him better than Draco.... awww. I love how Dumbledore and Ron are helping Harry to see past his prejudices.

    I’m really enjoying the dual perspectives of Snape and Harry. Snape being so private and hidden with some things is wonderfully in character. I love the immaturity in Harry growing and developing to understanding things better.

    Snape teaching Harry about coping skills is golden. The fact that Snape learned it from Lucius Malfoy is soo good. Haha he definitely can’t tell Harry that one.

    I’m loving this story. It’s fantastic so far! Thank you for writing and posting it!

    Ohhhhh this was so, so, so good. Best thing I’ve read in awhile. Marvelous job.

    I loved the delving into Snape’s psyche. The protective relationship Albus had with Snape. How Snape was groomed to be a Death Eater, how it all came tumbling apart.

    I love how Snape protected Harry, how the more Snape spent on Harry, time or money, the more he cared for him. That was beautiful development.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Super fantastic well done. Thank you soooo much for coming up with this story, for putting the time into writing it and sharing it with us.

    Woah, awesome! Long full chapter full of so much! Fantastic job on all the characterizations. I really like your Dumbledore, Harry, and Snape so far. That new Slytherin Girl is interesting. Why do the other Slytherins not like her getting points? Very involved chapter with the potion making, and the test. I can tell that a lot of work was put into this!

    Great pace, setting, and set up so far! I enjoyed it and am interested in reading more. I can tell this this is going to be a very big, involved story. I haven't had a good one of those in awhile. So, yay!

    I loved it!!! The first part with angry Harry was so dramatic and great. I loved the plan, moving Harry every couple of days. Fantastic that Minerva and Poppy were in on it too.

    And when Snape said, “I love him.” So beautiful.

    This is a really realistic way it could of happened. I liked how in character and close to canon it was.

    I loved the new house and the painted room that is now Harry’s. So sweet. Fantastic ending. Thank you for writing and sharing!!!

    This is beautiful!!!!! I loved it! Absolutely loved it. Especially the end. Ahhh!! Beautiful! I loved your Snape. Stand off-ish but reading the signs, giving care. The last part about the new life being "magical" was inspired. The beginning seemed to drag a little but the ending was worth it! Well done!!!

    Awww, this was sweet! I really liked how clever Snape responded, so acerbic. I loved it! Fantastic portrayal of character!

    For example, lines like this:

    Potter flinched. "Magic isn't real, sir."

    Severus arched an eyebrow. "I do believe you were a cat when you arrived."

    Muah ha! Love ya Snape. We need more versions like this. It's like the character has come alive. I could see Snape and Harry getting along splendidly. You should consider doing sequels.

    I was a little confused when I first read it - I did not pick up that this was preHogwarts at first and that Harry was eight or nine. If you ever decide to go back and edit I think that could be clearer.

    I really liked how the beginning and end repeated themselves. Lovely story to read. I enjoyed it. Thank you for writing and posting your mess!

    Yikes! Oh no! How will Severus make it through this terrible detention? it's going to be awful, but at least by having to pretend to be Potter, he is starting to realize more of what Harry is really like.

    I really hope that they get enough evidence to kick Umbridge out. I'm worried that since Snape doesn't have his wand, that Umbridge will catch on and do something to harm Harry, more than the usual detention, which would of course be worse for Severus. Yikes! What a predicament.

    But of course, this is so in character for Snape. Truly a brave man.

    Thanks for the update! Great pace. I really like the plan that Severus and Minerva came up with.

    Author's Response: he's already starting to have his eyes opened about Harry, just from walking around the hallways! (picture Harry striding around Hogwarts, robes billowing behind him, Snape-style, and try not to laugh, I dare you) I can tell you that this fic only has two chapters remaining, so I think that says something about Umbridge's chances after this... and yeah I had to make Snape leave his wand behind otherwise I just couldn't see the detention going the way I had it pictured and the way Snape and McGonagall plan it to, so it made sense for him to leave it behind– for the sake of the plan. Which also speaks to his bravery, I certainly wouldn't want to go spend time under the power of a known sadist while unarmed. Thank you so much for the review!!
