Hi, I'm Jan. :D I love Snape and Harry fics, and just mentor fics in general. I first started Potions and Snitches (P&S) as a safe place to find Snape & Harry gen fics without stumbling into Snape and Harry slash (aka Snarry, or HP/SS).

Fandoms that I like to read fanfiction of include: Star Trek, Star Wars, Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Dragonball Z, Stargate SG1, Batman, Angel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I like Gen and Mentor fics mostly. I love hurt/comfort, angst, whump, drama, raw emotions, and vivid descriptions best.

I know how to make and edit graphics, icons, and layouts (html and css). I am a master web searcher. XD

My dreams? One day I'd like to be able to run up a mountain effortlessly, or at least easily. :) I'd like to see Potions and Snitches host every single good Snape and Harry Gen fic there ever existed. I'd like to have people who post here get 100 reviews a chapter. I'd like active-to-the-bursting challenges and contests. I want the site to be a great, fun place that readers of Snape and Harry fics loved and knew as active.

    Very powerful. Snape was very scary in this story, threatening Harry. Wow! I’m so glad he stopped and realized Harry was actually hyperventilating.

    I bet Snape feels guilty.

    There was one typo, after Harry tells Snape about his Uncle, Snape then calls him “Your father” instead of your Uncle.

    Poor Ron having to be disciplined by McGonagall later. So his wrist is broken but he is still worried about Harry. He’s such a good friend. You did a great job expressing Ron in the short time he was present in the story.

    Reading this again and I absolutely love it. What a great Christmas present. I love that Snape is actually, really seeing Harry now. Sweet ending.

After Hogwarts closes due to the petrifications on students and an illness sweeping through Hogwarts, the students are sent home in groups and Professor Snape is entrusted by Albus to take Harry home personally. On Christmas Eve, Snape is surprised to see Potter singing Christmas Carols underneath his window in Spinner's End and brings the child inside with the intention of questioning the child and then taking him home, not realizing he was left in Cokeworth by his horrid relatives. With a letter from the head of the Prince family demanding he come to the Christmas celebrations with his child, Severus decides to pass Harry off as his son in favor of not turning the child over to social services or the Ministry due to his lack of a home. Harry, with no place to go and not wanting to return to the Dursleys agrees to the crazy plan. Can this Christmas be a new beginning for both a man regretting his life choices and child who desires to belong to someone? And how will Harry fare among a pureblood family and in a new school out of his comfort zone? Can the Christmas season make miracles themselves happen?

    I love the start! Poor Harry. He must be so cold and hungry by now.

    I love that Snape loves to bake. I bet it might be something Snape and Harry share as things they both like to do.

    So when Snape told his relatives he had a child when he was younger, was he telling the truth? Or was he lying?

    Thanks. Heh, he is and he's upset that his relatives would leave him alone as well as still being overwhelmed concerning Hogwarts closing and being worried about how he's going to fund his education at a new school.  Yet there's also some joy at being away from his relatives which he isn't sure how to feel about, what with other things (the school closing mainly) occupying his mind.  

    Yeah, I don't think I've read many stories that involve Severus knowing to bake.   Imagine Severus baking cookies for Christmas with Harry.  Well, that may be based more on the christmas tradition in my family where mom and us girls get together and bake cookies during Christmas.  Grandmom used to as well but she doesn't do much baking anymore.  I'm hoping it will turn out to be something they can bond over. 

     I think in this story, Severus told the truth, however the child passed away when young.  Now normally, Arastos will be Snape's son from Lily (older half-brother of Harry) but in this one I think perhaps he had a different child altogether that died possibly in infancy or early childhood.  I'm not planning on Arastos being in this one.   

    I'll try to work on a second chapter for the story.

Snape finds Harry in the halls, high out of his mind. Snape could have immediately turned the boy in for suspension, but he didn't. He actually cared about the boy's recovery.

    Thanks for writing and posting. It's an intense story.

    Snape was really calm and did his best. Draco was really supportive. It's a little bit surprising at how mature he is. Perhaps he's growing up or has other reasons.

    Harry was really well behaved for what he went through. I'm surprised he didn't try to escape try to find more drugs in his dorm, or in a secret hiding place. The addiction is pretty intense.

    As it says, this is the first step. :)

    Author's Response: Thank you, I really liked that when I was reading about Floriography and the meaning of the white Lily flower. I thought it was very appropriate, particularly that it said that it grew on the graves of people who had been unjustly killed (or something like that), much as I don't agree with all JK Rowling said I think she put a lot of thought into some of these things as it's very appropriate with a bit of added help from Severus adding his magic to show his undying love for her and now Harry. I have an idea to do another story about Harry thinking about the meaning of the Asphodel and Wormwood question, it may be part of a bigger story.

    Author's Response: Thanks, yes the original sad story needed to be told but I had the idea for what would happen to the Horcrux after he died (all the evidence points to that this wouldn't happen but I wanted to write the idea) and the imagery of Severus finding a very ill Harry abandoned in his cupboard and I guess it grew from there with a bit of rule-bending on the time turners
