About me:

LOOKING FOR A BETA?  Please, please, PLEASE send me a message.  I am actively looking for people to beta for.  I would love to beta for you!  BUT - plesae read below on what sort of a beta I am before throwing stories at me.

I love betaing and always prefer reading betaed fics.  I think it should be a no-brainer and a must-have for any work, fanfiction or otherwise; all good work must have editing and revision done.  Let me tell you, I was appalled to see a few Polls ago that 46% of writers don't beta their work - and another 25% do so only if required by a ficfest.  How depressing.  It's the mark of a good writer that cares for both their work, as well as their readers, that will make sure to have at least one other set of eyes check their writing before posting to the masses.

Depending on what type of fic yours is, I would be more than happy to beta for you.  Not that I really have a problem betaing anything (I will literally take anything, nothing is too __[fill in adjective]____ for me) but there are genres and types that I prefer over others.  Things will go much more smoothly if we both get along and I'm as excited about your story as you are.  I am the type of beta that not only does typographical checks, but gives constructive criticism on word choice, plot and character development, and problems in how the story itself is written.

I'm an interesting person (if I do say so myself) who tends to be quiet and reserved when I need to or when observing, but get me alone and relaxed with you and you may be in for a surprise! I love animals of all types and hope to go on in the animal industry in the public relations/communications area, while writing my own stories on the side. Maybe one day I'll even have my own books published!  I am an English Writing major heading into my senior year and Comprehensive at university with a Biology minor.  Wish me luck on the comp - I get to write an entire novel!  I was in 4-H Rabbits for 8 years, and continue to compete on the national show circuit where I am now known nation-wide for my excellent stock.  For two years I worked at as a stable hand during the school year, which I loved.  Someday I plan to have my own breeding stables.

I also LOVE the Spanish language and culture - actually all foreign stuff, really - and can't wait to study abroad! Music is a huge passion in my life and that of my family - I sing, act, play all string instuments but mainly violin, and play piano. I hope to learn formal dancing soon too. Manga, FanFiction, creative writing, photography, Howrse (virtual horse game), theater, and reading fantasy and sci-fi are my current wastes-too-much-time activities. ;)

My faults?....Bossy, good at lying, stubborn, extremely bullheaded at times, dysfunctional family, brutally honest, sly and underhanded to get what I want often times, severe tunnel vision - what I call my 'phases' - at times, and apparently I have not been 'cultured' yet - says my AP English class. In other words, basically a normal human being! Or as normal as anyone can get, anyway.

Like many with the stereotypical stigma against the house, for years I did not wish to consider myself as a Slytherin.  I aimed instead to be a much more uprighteous Ravenclaw.  Recently, however, the more I read FanFiction and the HP books over and over again, the more I thought about it....and I realized that I truly am a Slytherin at heart.  I am EXTREMELY ambitious, and very cunning and sly.  And people wonder why I make such a good fundraiser... ;)  Now I proudly wear my elegant, beautiful Slytherin crest on my sleeve for everyone to see.  (Courtesy of Harry Potter: The Exhibition.  Yay!)  Plus I absolutely LOVE the colors green and silver together - even before HP - and have always been fascinated by snakes.  Ah, Slytherin to a T, eh?

SEQUEL TO "KEPT BEHIND" Harry might have survived his ordeal as a disembodied spirit, but when the Order is jeopardized by one of its own, Harry must risk everything to save the one that once saved him... even if that person is Snape

Oh no. Oh no you don't. You will update. Now. See my finger shaking at you through this computer screen. This story will not end! I have just spent the last 48 hours depriving myself of sleep, peace of mind from parents yelling at me to go to bed or come work, BLUPing horses on my game where I'm the leader of the #2 group in my breed and we have an actual chance of passing the #1 and taking their spot, a clean rabbit shed that we need to power-spray asap, all for this series. I found the first two days ago and became utterly captivated. And these last two chapters of this have literally moved me to tears. (Of course, that may have something to do with being in conjunction of finding out my latest horse's ranking for today about 25 minutes ago, but still - it was mainly this story!) Do you know how often I've been moved to tears by stories? I can count them on one hand. I'm not an outwardly emotional person at all. Rather like Snape, in fact. And it's even harder for a Fanfiction work to do so. Yet, you, who is not even published - or at least this story isn't - have managed to do so.

And then it just stops. EXCUSE ME? Where is the rest? You're not allowed to do that! Now I'm going to sound like a whiney child. Update, update, update! You have the chapters written already, yes? So update? (Please?)

A letter from home sends Harry down a path he'd never have walked on his own. A sixth year fic, this story follows Order of the Phoenix and disregards any canon events that occur after Book 5. Spoilers for the first five books. Have fun!

You know I just had to look up a British slang dicitonary after reading this chapter so I could figure out what all those words actually meant! ;)

When Harry finds an injured Snape on his doorstep and must hide him from the Dursleys, he has no idea that this very, very bad day will be the start of something good.

Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story.

Alternate 6th summer (and part of the school year): post-OotP; ignores HBP and DH.

THAT'S IT???!?!?!?!?!!? No more??? Noooooo!!!!!!!! You can't leave us hanging like this! I just found this story a few days ago and have been devouring it, only to have you cut me off cold turkey.....Not nice!

This story is AWESOME!!! You do an incredible job of making it realistic; unlike many stories where Snape and Harry suddenly have an epiphany and become best buds in a week, you are actually stretching it out like it would be in life. Yet, it is not so much so that it is boring. That there is a very fine line to trod upon.

Please keep it coming and update update UPDATE! Good luck with future chapters, I can't wait. :D

Oooo, I was laughing just at the name of this one! And such a great ending! Please update, this has SO much potentail! And the huge grin it plastered on my face at the end....yup, you are not allowed to not update. If you don't, I will come after you. ;)

Constructive Critizism: Length could be longer. I'm hoping you're going to go a little deeper in the subject matter here - as of the moment, it seems a bit too platonic and floaty. If that makes sense. Good sense of speed, not to slow, not too fast. I'm wondering how far you actually are going to take this though. Mentorship? Getting into the ansty emotional issues of Harry's inner self at all? And I can't wait to see who is paired with whom. I'm thinking Hermione for McGonagall, Parvati's twin sister maybe for Flitwick? There's not a ton of students mentioned outside of Griffyndor house and Slytherin 7th year, and there's quite a few teachers, actually, not to mention the rest of the faculty. Or are faculty going to be able to be sponsors too? Now THAT could be extremely interesting!

    Keep updating, PLEASE!!!

Summer after fourth year is finally over, and things are not as expected when Harry makes it back to the magical world. Badly broken and determined for it to stop, Harry turns to, surprisingly, a certain Potions Master, who in turn finds within himself, of all places, a heart still beating and waiting to love, and be loved in turn.

Let the bedlam begin!!!! Oh, this one made me laugh! And ah, the infamous voices-in-the-head....Almost makes me wish I had one. lol

Only minor complaint is that this seems more like an interim chapter; not much in the way of action going on. Maybe the next chapter? **smiles beseechingly up at you**

Please post the next chapter! Oh, and keep smiling. Smiles and laughter are good for the soul. :)

After the final battle, Harry goes back into Snape's memories. What he finds, shocks him and turns what should have been his happiest days, into a living hell.

Pretty good so far (reserving judgment until I get a little farther along in the story) but I'm wondering why so many words are italicized? Only about half of them are appropriately marked that way, and it's rather distracting after a while. After all, their purpose is to emphasize, and while you may think the word should be emphasized, in real life no one speaks with that much emphasis. Just my two cents - not trying to be mean or anything. Course, there are 20-some odd chapters that I still have to read through, so maybe somewhere in there someone pointed it out to you and you changed it?

For a first timer though, this is pretty darn good! I'm interested to see where some of these plot bunnies are hopping...

    Author's Response:

As you pointed out, this is my first story, so I didn't realise that I was doing that. Live and learn they say, right?

Thanks for the observations though. I'm trying to do better. Someday, maybe I'll go back and fix things, especially in earlier chapters.

Before Harry arrives at Hogwarts, the faculty have a meeting and decide that Harry will need a mentor to help him adjust, keep him out of trouble, and make protecting him easier. They decide that this person should the Head of the House into which Harry is sorted, presumably Minerva McGonagall. But things, of course, don't turn out as planned, and Harry is harder to deal with than anyone expected. Nobody asked him if he wanted a mentor, after all...

NOTE: This story has a prologue. It is not necessary to the plot of the story, but if you wish to read it, it is called(predictably enough) 'Prologue to Life as Dictated by a Talking Hat'

Thank you for finally updating! You know, I was thinking that if I was Harry I might finally let loose and cry a bit during this talk - about 2 seconds before scrolling down to the part where Harry gets teary-eyed. Yay! He's finally opening up a bit! *Huge grin!!!* Let's move this along a bit more and actually have them connect all the way, no more of this stalling stuff with Harry still reverting back to 'unfeeling cranky hates everything that comes out of Snape's mouth' mode.

Please update sooner this time, if you can manage it; I know how writer's block goes, but just hang in there! :)

Author's Response: Thanks for the review! I can't promise that Harry won't backslide a little - he dictates his moods to me, I just write them. It's frustrating, but I think it's more realistic that way. This sort of thing is frustrating to deal with, and I refuse to do it the disrespect of writing it too easy. That said, I think we are finally making some real progress. The next update should be out in roughly 2 weeks, and Outcast's Alley should update in a week or so. Thanks again for the review! Glad you liked! :0)

Harry and Snape have developed an 'understanding'. wooooowwww!!!! I absolutely loved this story! It had me hooked from the very beginning to the last word. While I was reading the last two chapters I happened to be listening to my personal Mixer on my IPod on shuffle. It just happened to correspond perfectly with the parts I was reading at the time...This combined with the emotional parts actually brought tears to my eyes! You KNOW a story is great when that happens!

Thank you so much, this story is definitely in my top 5 FanFictions ever! (Not just HP, either.) Congrats, and keep writing!

Dun dun duuuuunnnn! Ooo, the suspense is killing me! lol What are we going to do if poor Harry doesn't find his godfather there? I have an inkling that things are not going to go exactly as planned... But then, this IS Harry Potter, and when have things EVER gone as planned around him? ;)

I vote in favor of longer chapters with a longer wait. However, please do continue with the tiny succinct synopsis of the previous chapter; it's very helpful, particularly with long interim waits.

    Author's Response:

Worth knowing the little synopsis is helpful, I know I can get a bit muddled myself and forget what's happening, particularly after a longish wait between chapters...

Trouble *does* just seem to follow Harry round, so we will have to see...

Thanks loads for your review :)

I think you should make the 7th years its own story. It would just make this one wrapped up and complete, yet part of something larger. There's a great satisfaction that comes with something completed, that most writers (including myself) love. And then that makes you only more excited to continue on with new ideas, such as the next installment of the story!

Great work, keep it up! I hope we'll get to see some Lucius/Draco interaction, maybe? *grins hopefully* That would be a wonderful way to close up that chapter of his personal problems, and add more drama and angst (YAY, ANGST!) at the same time.
