Harry and Snape are thrown together by annoying relatives, a series of strange dreams, and Voldemort's latest hunt for Harry, but their greatest challenge may well be surviving each other. This will be a long summer unless the two can find a way to work together. A slow-burn enemy-to-mentor story.

    This is...well, an amazing story. Such a unique take on Snape and Harry's relationship-- you really make them *get* there, if you know what I mean. They don't just wake up one day and feel totally different for one another. I particularly like that even seeing Harry's life at the Dursley's didn't make Snape turn into a big cuddly teddy bear (well, okay, *bat*, more like, but it's the "big cuddly" part that counts). What he found out about Harry was enough to change a lot of things, but not who Snape *is*, and he'll always be the king of snark, even if, eventually, it lacks the malice it once did.

    I see in your profile as of a year ago you didn't consider this story abandoned, and I sincerely hope that's true! This is one of my favorites and I would very much love to see its continuation. What you've given me already is totally amazing, and I'm eager and hopeful that, when you are able and willing, I'll get to see more.

The-boy-who-lived, prophesied defeater of the Dark Lord, son of the supremely intelligent Lily Evans and talented James Potter, Golden boy of Gryffindor, part-time punching bag and house elf of the Dursleys and the bane of Severus Snape's teaching career, Harry's used to labels. Who would want Harry when they can see instead whoever they like instead? Having never been entirely sure who he is makes him a little too open to suggestion though and unfortunately for him, Umbridge wants to banish his old list of names and create a new one of her own.
Beneath the names others have branded him with will anyone be able to find Harry?

    This is crazy-intense, and I want more. Umbridge has always been my favorite villain. Voldemort is a first class bad-ass of course, but there's something so *vile* about the mundane, insidious existence of Umbridge that almost makes her worse. I can't wait to see what happens, and for someone to figure it out and help Harry. Especially if that someone is Snape...

    Okay, on a scale of One to Epic, this story is like at least a twelve. I just love it. It's so raw and hurt-y in all the right ways. My favorite part is actually the flashback bits-- the stuff Harry is hearing that people have said to him, because it's such a chilling, cutting way to show where is mind is. I love that you're doing it through "showing" instead of *just* "telling". Also, good on Snape for being shut of the spying thing. I always feel better when he gets out, no matter how almost-deadly it is. And a billion points to Dobby for being awesome.

    Or, you know, a billion points to *you* for being awesome and writing this. Eagerly awaiting an update! :)

And I totally agree, Snape was so completely in the wrong profession and needed a career change so I gave him one ^^ and I’d give Dobby points but I don’t know if that would count as clothes...?     Lololololololol I died out laughing at this, I absolutely did. I can just *see* it, and it is *beautiful*.

    The pain and angst in the fic is palpable and incredible. It makes my stomach hurt in the best way possible. Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall, and Poppy are my four faves to tend to a hurt Harry, and I just...oh hell, I adore this. As things move on, I just hope you have McGonagall continue to play a real role in this, and in interacting with Harry. I don't have a good reason, it's just that I'm selfish, and I love her. "He has, to use a common phrase, done a bunk." She's just win.

    I love your characterizations. Poppy's hurt, Minerva's rage, Albus' fury, oh and *Snape*. Snape is just too delightful for words. This story just *bleeds* while I'm reading it, and I adore it. One of my favorite fics eeeever.

    Author's Response: Hehe Thanks!  I’m so glad that worked and was as funny as I wanted it to be – I mean really, who’s going to mind a little accidental magic where Umbridge is concerned?  I’ve had a few people say this fic makes their stomach hurt... maybe I should be worried about what kind of monster I’ve created?  *gives you advil* - feel better ^^ - and McGonagall’s awesome... I’ll try not to forget about her but at this point my heads ready to explode – there’s so many characters to remember to keep in this fic!
