About me:

Anything I write never gets beyond the "vague plotbunny in my drafts folder" stage, so things don't get posted.  But I'm an avid, very grateful, reader of your fanfic, even if I have trouble expressing myself and my feelings in a written form when leaving reviews.  If I favorite your story, but don't review it, it's because I love it and can't think of anything useful to say beyond "awesome" or similar.

I'm willing to beta stories, though my skills lie more to the technical (spelling, grammar, medical terminology, etc.) than content and plot holes - it's *your* story, after all!  My Brit-picking won't be perfect, seeing as I'm merely Canadian (and have a nasty habit of using American spelling thanks to reading far too many American books before being taught to spell in school), but I can catch some stuff.  I'm also willing to beta stories for non-native English speakers to help make the grammar and word usage sound more natural for English readers.

7th year AU, canon wrapped in. Thanks to Vernon's stupidity, Snape and Harry get trapped in an abandoned psychiatric hospital. They HAVE to work together, but old grudges, tempers and bad conditions are in the way. Betaed by tabbycat. THANK YOU!

As if being trapped in a cursed and haunted former lunatic asylum isn't creepy enough, with Snape...Voldemort's coming? It's like every ghost story Harry's ever heard coming true all at once!

Sometimes getting what you want is terrifying. Can Severus and Harry manage after the roller coaster that was first year?

Sequel to Reading the Signs.

Ooooh, evil cliffie! I love this so much, Snape's making a great dad, as much as he worries he isn't, please continue!

After a horrific accident, Harry returns to the living world without any of his memories. When memories do reappear, they are not his own. In response to the “Wrong Memories” challenge by Dream Painter. Note: This will be a short 3-5 chapter story.

That threw me for a loop, once I'd figured out it wasn't James Potter, I thought for sure it was going to be Regulus Black!

Author's Response: Lol, I hadn't considdered either of those possibilities.

Rather than allowing Harry to stay at Diagon Alley after he blew up Aunt Marge, the Ministry sends Harry back to the Dursleys. Harry returns to school after a terrible summer, to find that he's not the only one with this kind of secret. A student has been killed by his family. New screening measures are put into place by the Ministry: Every student must be given a medical exam and interview to look for child abuse. With Dumbledore facing an inquiry, Snape is entrusted with the task of making sure EVERYONE receives one.

I read all of this in two days - this blew me away. It's the most realistic execution of Snape-as-Harry's-father I've seen yet, and the AU-ness *does not feel AU at all*. You expose the plot holes in canon excellently - why *didn't* anyone notice anything wrong with Neville, why was Ginny's probable lasting trauma glossed over like that? - and I love Snuffles! Can't wait for more!

Everyone said Harry was different, but what if the differences were more than just surviving the killing curse? What if Harry had Autism? How would the wizarding world react and adapt to The Boy Who Lived?

This is awesome, first story like it I've seen, I love it! No, the saviour of your world isn't neurotypical - get used to it, wizards! More, please!

Sequel to "Snape's Memories". A story based in the "Snape's Memories" timeline. It begins in the Christmas during the Deathly Hallows.

A holiday tale.

Having consumed this entire story arc starting with Dudley's story until here, in the last 12 hours or so, I am, quite clearly, hooked! And can't wait for more on exactly how Snape got in there, and how they cope with it!

"I am so glad that you are willing to take him, Professor Snape. It would be a shame if Harry was to be deported without the chance to make amends because he is not meeting the requirements of his visa."

I'm guessing the American school had no preconceptions regarding Slytherins, and the Slytherins, some of whom are good students and halfway decent people just waiting to shine through (and the others sneaky enough to beg, borrow, or steal notes from the Ravenclaws - possibly roughing them up a bit to get them to comply, if it's Crabbe or Goyle), attract their attention at first far more than the average Gryffindor who's just goofing off and quite possibly not mingling as much with the local students.

First impressions mean a lot, and once the teachers and American students have certain expectations, you get your mix of self-fulfilling prophecy and confirmation bias, making the Slytherins keep looking better, and the Gryffindors seem to be getting worse. And to the Gryffindors, aside from Hermione and Neville, to whom simply treating the Slytherins the same as everyone else would be seen as favoring them, *actually* liking them a bit better, well... Simply not considering the Slytherins evil, and being willing to talk to them, is enough to get you labelled "evil" yourself, to many Gryffindors.

    So...did I guess right? ;)

Harry's a bit oblivious, but Ron's way, way worse. Boys tend to be like that, though, until they grow up a bit!

    Author's Response:

I'm sure they don't and they are probably angry that people are telling them how they should act.  You're right that they are not taking well to the Gryffindors' lack of ambition.  The teachers are not pleased with the lackluster homework and neither are the students.  You'll find out why a little later.

Mingling?  Other than with Luna and the DA have we ever truly seen the Gryffindors mingle?  So you might be on to something.

You're right about first impressions, it looks as if the Gryffs aren't making good impressions at all.  I wonder what the American students think of the housing situation at Hogwarts.  Must be odd for them to be supposedly banned from talking to people in their own country by "foreigners." Perhaps the Gryffs are headed towards a "tea party" of their own making.  Very 18th century, no?  We'll have to see.

Ron is worse.  Boys are boys and I know two who need to grow up.

    Thanks for your review!
