Hi, I'm Jan. :D I love Snape and Harry fics, and just mentor fics in general. I first started Potions and Snitches (P&S) as a safe place to find Snape & Harry gen fics without stumbling into Snape and Harry slash (aka Snarry, or HP/SS).

Fandoms that I like to read fanfiction of include: Star Trek, Star Wars, Kung Fu : The Legend Continues, Dragonball Z, Stargate SG1, Batman, Angel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I like Gen and Mentor fics mostly. I love hurt/comfort, angst, whump, drama, raw emotions, and vivid descriptions best.

I know how to make and edit graphics, icons, and layouts (html and css). I am a master web searcher. XD

My dreams? One day I'd like to be able to run up a mountain effortlessly, or at least easily. :) I'd like to see Potions and Snitches host every single good Snape and Harry Gen fic there ever existed. I'd like to have people who post here get 100 reviews a chapter. I'd like active-to-the-bursting challenges and contests. I want the site to be a great, fun place that readers of Snape and Harry fics loved and knew as active.

    Wow! What a powerful chapter. I love all your characterizations of the adults. Very in character, very diverse. Well done.

    I am so glad that Severus will be Harry's guardian and that there was little argument about it - none really. it's probably the best place for him, after all. :) Thanks for writing!

    Yeah, I figured that Hogwarts would have some kind of safety backup plan in case if students are to have unfit guardians, so they'd go to their Head of House and unless if that causes any issues, then that's just the default placement. Although I do think Minerva would be a good fit, she likely recognizes that Severus seems to care about the boy and he's younger and more capable of emphathizing with his situation. Also, she does think it would be a good way for him to heal from his own... wounds about Potter and the Marauders and help him see that Harry isn't them and that those years are over.

    I really liked the secret code messages Snape and Lucius gave each other. Clever. Does each year come up with their own? I wonder if Draco has picked up on any of it, and if he will teach Harry.

    So who will tell Harry that his circumstances will change? I hope Petunia and Dudley will get away from Vernon safely.

    Great story so far! I'm really enjoying it. Thanks so much for writing and posting!

    I headcanon that the signs are something that Lucius and Severus came up with, and it quickly caught on to the other years. To this day, Severus likely enforces it with his own students- teaching them example signs and then leaving them to think of their own signs among their circles. Maybe there's a more universal one that he teaches, one that those from other Houses would understand- some kind of wizarding sign language that branches off from BSL.

Harry James Potter grew up knowing two very important things: his family was kind of famous in the wizarding world, and his biological father died with honor in battle when Harry was only three-years-old.

Desperate to save his family after learning about the prophecy, James decided to take the Dark Mark; figuring he couldn't defy the Dark Lord as a loyal Death Eater, right? This simple change allowed Lily to survive but he died in the battle allowing Voldemort to take over the Wizarding World.

Harry's now sixteen years old and growing up as a Death Eater's son under Voldemort's oppressive regime has challenged him in ways no one expected, most of all his stepfather, Severus Snape. With the war on Muggles on the horizon, Harry - determined to fight - and Snape, doing whatever possible to keep Harry safe from the prophecy while coming to terms with his own guilt over James's death, must find a way to come together to rid the world of the Darkest Wizard of their time.

    Yikes! What a delicate position they are all in. Harry being a stubborn teenager is not helping things. Still, I wonder when Harry will find out the truth. Surely that will fix their relationship? Or will it make it worse?

Marauders Era. Severus Glacier Snape was adopted at age 6 years old by Lady Hecate, the Goddess of Magic to raise as her own and to protect him from his abusive father. (He and Lily have been best friends since age 2). On a trip to Diagon Alley, Severus learns that he's the heir of Ravenclaw and Prince as well as Magic.

At Hogwarts, Severus reunites with his childhood friend, Lily Evans who is a sister to him in all but blood and bonds with Remus Lupin, a werewolf who wants friends but is scared of rejection.

    Nice set up! I wonder if we will fast forward now to when Severus is an adult and married, getting the news that Lily is dead and he has to raise Harry.

    Author's Response: This is a part of the series 'The Heirs of Ravenclaw, Prince, and Slytherin'. Severus and Lily talk about their feelings and decide that they are better off as siblings and friends. And Voldemort is good in this story. He ends up marrying Remus instead of Lily, who is the secondary godmother to his children.
